Four years ago . . .
LSU students were given a chance to make a difference and a lasting impact on their local community through Dance Marathon. Students from all over campus united together around one cause – making miracles for patients at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital. Dance Marathon at LSU is a yearlong fundraiser, and students and our leadership team dedicate their entire year to ensure the success of this organization. At the end of our fundraising year, we celebrate with a 26.2 hour “Big Event” where we all come together to celebrate our fundraising total. At our event, we stand and dance the entire time while meeting and listening to the stories of our Miracle Families who have been treated at the children’s hospital. Hearing first hand the impact of our fundraising efforts, and realizing how many miracles we made is what pushes our participants through the event.
Dance Marathon is a national movement that takes place on college campuses across the country, where participants commit to raising funds and awareness for their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Just four years ago, Dance Marathon at LSU was founded on campus and our students began raising money for our local Children’s Miracle Network hospital. In just four short years, Dance Marathon at LSU has become the largest student run philanthropy on campus and has fundraised $771,802.99 for the patients at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital. With your help this year, we can reach our goal of raising $1 million cumulatively in five years. Every penny we raise benefits the new freestanding children’s hospital located between Essen Lane and Bluebonnet Drive off of I-10, which is set to open its doors in 2019. The awareness and money we raise helps to ensure local pediatric patients receive the best possible care and the hospital has the most up to date technology.
While LSU students are passionate about our cause, we want our community to be equally as invested. Dance Marathon gives us all an opportunity to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. We hope that you will consider partnering with Dance Marathon at LSU this year to make our fifth year the best one yet. If you are interested in partnering with DM at LSU, please contact our Partnerships Director at firstname.lastname@example.org and see our Partnership Packet. Thank you for your time and consideration, and we look forward to making many miracles with you this year!
